Additional supplies to keep at home or in your survival kit based on the
types of disasters common to your area:

  • Whistle
  • N95 or surgical masks
  • Matches
  • Rain gear
  • Towels
  • Work gloves
  • Tools/supplies for securing your home
  • Extra clothing, hat and sturdy shoes
  • Plastic sheeting
  • Duct tape
  • Scissors
  • Household liquid bleach
  • Entertainment items
  • Blankets or sleeping bags

This is not on the list, and you dont find it on anyone's list. But i suggest also putting a magic marker in your kit. Why, Well lets say a bad flood happens and you must leave your home. You can always write on the door your safe and the location you are going to. This way if a love one comes to your home looking for you they can see that. Or if a tornado knocks down your house and you have to leave, again you can write a message on what ever is left to leave it for a love one to find and know where you have gone. Again this is not on the offical Kit list, but its something I keep in my Kit.
