What is the different between a

 

Warning vs. Watch

 

 

 

 

Tornado Watch - Tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area. This is a good time to discuss your emergency plans, and check list, and supplies.    Tornado Watch means it could happen, but is not happening yet.  This could change with little notice, watch the weather for updates.



 

Tornado Warning - A tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar.  
Take shelter immediately and turn on a radio to hear updates.

 


Severe Thunderstorm Watch - Severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. Stay informed and be ready to act if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued.



 

Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Severe weather has been reported by spotters or indicated by radar. Warnings indicate imminent danger to life and property.
Take necessary shelter immediately and turn on a radio to hear updates.

 

 

 

Short definition:

Watch means not happen yet but could happen.

Warning means it is happen take shelter immediately.
