What are they and do I need one?
A weather alert radio could save your life. Not all weather radios are created equally.
I trust the Midland ones over any other.
And for this reason this page will talk about the 2 radios you see on this page.
MIDLAND WR120 and MIDLAND DELUXE WR400
Both radios have SAME # (Specific Area Message Encoder) So you can set it for your area and only when the National Weather Service has a weather alert for your area will it beep.
The radios also have battery backup. So if the eletric fails in your area the battery backup will last for hours and hours to alert you if an alert comes out.
The radio has a LOUD ALERT system. If you are sleep it should wake you. I know the first time the Alert went off when I was a sleep it scared the heck out of me.
At anytime if you want the weather report for your area, you can hit a button and hear the weather report.
The Deluxe WR400 has a AM/FM radio so you can listen to your favorite radio station. And when a alert happens it will interrupt the radio station and do the Alert so you know to check it to see what's going on.
